What are Tape Extensions?   

Tape extensions are 4cm wide strips of hair are applied to your own with the newest double sided tape.

How does it work?

How long does it take to apply?

New Year, New Color

Beat the Heat: Spend Less Time with Your Blow-dryer

We all know that excessive heat styling isn’t doing our hair any good but with busy schedules sometimes this is our only option.  The majority of us cannot just let our hair air dry into a perfect style.  Here are some tips to save time on blow drying and to protect your hair from damage. 

•  When you get out of the shower towel dry your hair.  Start by squeezing any excess water out of the hair.  It is better to squeeze and let the towel absorb the moisture rather than rubbing the towel fiercely in your hair.  Rubbing the can cause breakage and will rough up your hairs’ cuticle and create frizz.
• Protect the hair with a heat protecting product like Redken’s 09 Blown Away.  Blown Away’s formula is designed to protect from thermal and mechanical damage while also controlling frizz. 
• Blow-dry the hair 80% dry.  This step is a rough dry, trying to style the hair while it’s still wet leads to more time and stress on your hair.  Using your fingers to comb through your hair, pull it away from your head while keeping the blow dryer pointing towards your ends and not pointing up at your roots, again keeping that cuticle smooth and preventing frizz.  Do this until the hair is slightly damp to the touch or after turning the blow dryer off your hair will feel slightly cool.
• Finish Blow drying and styling your hair.  It’s best to finish in sections.  Section off the hair and use your round brush to add volume or your paddle brush to give a smoother effect.    

Keith Presents in the Canary Islands

This June Keith traveled to the Canary Islands where he was a guest presenter for the New Image European Hair Conference.  Hair replacement specialists from all over Europe and the Middle East were in attendance.  The conference featured new and innovative techniques and products for hair replacement.

New Image introduced an innovative new line called XT3.  It features a new micro thin skin hair system that weighs less than 1oz.  Along with the new hair they introduced the XT adhesive.  In test cases the new XT adhesive lasted on average one week longer.  Another exciting advancement presented was a new hair extension system that can be reused for 9- 12 months.  The Europeans left excited and motivated about these new advancements in hair replacement.

Keith’s presentation was highlighted by a hair makeover on a burn victim who had lost 50% of her hair in an accident.  The woman had been wearing a heavy braided weave for many years.  Keith did a new Ladies Xt3 that was fully bonded to her scalp like a second layer of skin.  She can now have anyone run their hands through her hair and feel nothing.  It was truly life changing.

Stylists Attending Expressions Hair Show

On April 10^th several of our stylists from Neenah and Green Bay attended the Expressions Hair Show by Salon Centric in Chicago.  They attended several different types of classes to learn about the new trends in color, cuts and updo’s.

Here are some of the new trends for this season:

• Medium Length Hair including shoulder length bobs.
• Soft color transitions.  Hilighting is now more blended and natural, no more harsh streaks.
• Blunt lines along the edges of hair including blunt cut bobs and blunt cut bangs.
• Diagonal lines including asymmetrical haircuts that are longer on one side and angled bangs.

Redken Symposium 2011
